Fire District Election Results for Patchogue, Medford Area

One vote the difference in Gordon Heights FD commissioner race, Newsday reports.

Incumbents won out in Tuesday's fire district commissioner races, according to Newsday.

The most contested of the Patchogue and Medford area races was the Gordon Heights race, in which incumbent Avery Dean won against challenger Joyce Bourne by one vote, 271-270.

Newsday reported that the race was significant as Bourne's group supports a restructuring and possible dissolution of the fire district, while Dean supports it remaining as a separate fire district.

Here are the results for the other elections in the Patchogue and Medford area:

Patchogue Fire Department

J. Carter Biggs won 213-109 against Michael Partridge. A proposition to buy three new fire trucks was approved in a 188-130 vote. More information on the vote is here.

We need to pay our brave firemen that risk their lives for us and are left destitute if injured and their families as well if anything happens to them. They should be treated with the same or more deference as the police that we overpay.
