Fire Destroys Medford Home

No one injured in blaze late Monday night.

A fire tore through a Medford home late Monday night. 

No one was in the two-story home on Ferrick Avenue when the blaze broke out at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to Willie Wyche, chief of the Medford Fire Department.

The fire, which destroyed the home, was brought under control by 12:20 a.m., Wyche said.

In addition to the Medford Fire Department, the North Patchogue, Hagermann and Holtsville fire departments, along with the Medford Volunteer Ambulance were on scene.

A neighbor across the street from the home said that she called 911 after seeing that the house was on fire.

Ferrick Avenue was closed to traffic as firefighters battled the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
