Police ID Four Victims in Medford Shooting, Hunt on for Killer
East Patchogue teen, Medford man and Farmingville woman among those killed at Haven Drugs.
Suffolk County Police have indentified the four victims of a deadly shooting that took place Sunday morning at Haven Drugs in Medford.
According to police, the victims are drug store employees, Jennifer Mejia, 17, of East Patchogue; Raymond Ferguson, 45, of Centereach; and customers Bryon Sheffield, 71, of Medford and Jamie Taccetta, 33, of Farmingville.
Police said the male suspect, who is still at large, stole prescription drugs from the store. He is described by authorities as a white man with a thin build, approximately 5-foot-8, and was either unshaven or had a dark beard and mustache and short dark hair. The suspect was wearing a white baseball hat, sunglasses, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, dark shoes and was carrying a black backpack. The suspect fled on foot eastbound on Southaven Avenue.
A 911 call was received by police at approximately 10:20 a.m. Sunday morning by a person in the parking lot of the drug store.
Residents expressed shock and disbelief that a sunny Sunday morning brought a horrific crime scene to town.
Tony Kaiser has lived in Medford near the pharmacy for 30 years.
"They are all nice people there and this is senseless," Kaiser said referring to the pharmacy.
SCPD has made no arrests at this time and investigation is ongoing. Police say the suspect was armed with a handgun and should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.
Detectives are asking anything with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls are confidential.
Patchogue Patch will update as this story develops.

The owner Vinoda (Vinny) is the nicest guy. he's been at that location for over 30 years. A real throwback to your old small town pharmacist who is very friendly and know your entire family. I'm almost as heartbroken for him and his wife as I am for the victims. He treats his employees like family so this has to be hurting him so much.
On a personal note , Vinny gave my daughter her first job at the age of 16. Though that was years ago, It makes me weak in the knees to think that if this had happened that it could have been her.

Brian said it all, Vinodu and his staff are like family to many in the area. My brother worked there a few years after they first opened. Vinny offered my niece a job there just last week. I know he was taken to the hospital shortly after he arrived at the scene.
