Social Media Camp Long Island, an all-day conference dedicated to the professional use of sites such as Twitter and Facebook, takes place Friday at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue.
Patch.com is a sponsor of the event, which is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
Social media experts will hold discussions on all sorts of topics. Two Patch staff members, Sachem and Long Island Regional Sports Editor Chris Vaccaro, and David Reich-Hale, who runs the Long Island editorial operations for the AOL unit, will participate.
Other presenters include Steve Haweeli, president of WordHampton Public Relations in East Hampton; Tom Whitby, English professor and social media specialist at St. Joseph's College; Rich Kruse, founder and president of ExecuLeaders; and Louise DiCarlo, a virtual assistant and marketing professional.
The event is Jeffrey Namnum's brainchild.

Friday's Social Media Camp was a great event. About 200 people came out and attended classes (two of which I gave). This was the second SMC LI - and there will be plenty more. If you have slightest bit of interest in Facebook, Twitter and everything in between, get involved next time!
