Tomorrow, Thursday, August 29th, there will be a Faith, Labor, Business and Immigration Forum at the Congregational Church of Patchogue, 95 East Main Street. It is going to be well-covered by the press and government officials, as well as labor unions and immigrant's rights organizations.
Issues of immigration reform legislation will affect us directly here on Long Island whether we are aware of it or not. For example, some express concern about immigration reform and the potential changes in the prices we pay for (looking only at one strata of society) wine, fruits, vegetables, lawn service, housekeeping, child care and even the clothes we wear. Are those concerns realistic or exaggerated? What other things concern you?
It is my hope that you will enter or remain in the conversation that will proceed with or without us.
