I find these to be an avoid patchogue village at ALL COSTS. IF you dont get to the village before 6pm good luck trying to park. Also during these events a lot of people I know have had their cars damaged during these. So now I avoid patchogue on the fridays that this happens on.

I always have a great time at Alive after Five events. Can't wait for tonight!

This event was a lot better when it first started. The lack of parking is tough, but the corralling of people like a herd of cows is ridiculous. If you want to drink a beer you must stay within the "ropes", but also have a hundred kids and parents strollers inside that area too. Really do not enjoy being stuffed into an area where you have no room to breathe and have people spilling your beer all over you. Patchogue is really great, but too many politics get involved with all the events. Loosen up and we can all have fun.

They used to allow people to walk the streets drinking. That's when a woman was stabbed because when drinks are involved with large crowds, sooner or later it gets out of hand. It's a festival for everyone including families. There's nothing wrong with having designated areas for drinking.

This goes without saying to the thousands of people who go to the event and actually enjoy themselves. Is it crowded, sure. Is parking tough, sure. But it's grown to a wonderful event.

As a resident that lives within walking distance of this event, I have a few comments to add. Yes, it can be a nice event. Yes, the parking is very limited. But, to those that do attend: have a little respect for our homes and property in the area! No, it's not ok to leave your beer bottles and other assorted garbage on our lawns or in the streets. It's also not ok to damage our vehicles as you arrive, attempt to park, or as you leave. I really don't want you on my property at all, whether it be to vomit, urinate, or sleep it off. I am so disgusted by what these events bring with them. So happy that it's one down, three more to go!

From my experience, if you go between 5pm and 6:30pm, it's a more "family friendly" crowd. With the last one, we didn't get there until 7:30 and it was a totally different vibe. It was VERY crowded, VERY noisy, and I couldn't take 3 steps without inhaling someone's cigarette smoke. We left after about 10 minutes. So if you not into the bar crowd, get there before 6pm.

Alive After 5 was nice the first year or two. It has turned into a big mess and I agree that there is always clean up to do the morning after. I hope that the Chamber of Commerce is reading about these problems and figures out how to improve AA5.
