Guide: Flooded Streets in Patchogue Village

A list of streets in Patchogue that were flooded post Tropical Storm Irene.

The following streets were confirmed by Joe Dean, Patchogue Village's superintendent for the department of public works, to have at least partially flooded Sunday due to Tropical Storm Irene. These streets may no longer be flooded, but are also vulnerable to flooding when high tide returns at approximately 11:40 p.m. Sunday and lasts until 5 a.m. Monday.

Dean said the department of public works has been advising residents of the situation and have put out road blocks to limit traffic during high tide. While the mandatory evacuation has been lifted, Dean advised that those who live at ground level should carefully decide whether or not to return to their homes Sunday night. Those that live in a raised home that has electricity can probably wait it out safely, Dean said.

Fallen trees have been cleared by the department unless they are tangled in power lines, Dean said. The Long Island Power Association (LIPA) will clear those trees.

"Going forward we are going to assess damages and be involved in a heavy cleanup operation," Dean said.
