How to Blog on Patch

Start blogging on Patchogue Patch now!

So you want to blog for Patch? Here’s how to do it in 4 easy steps:

  1. Decide which Patch suits you best. Maybe it’s where you live. Maybe it’s where you work. You can always post to more than one Patch later, but you need a starting point.
  2. Create an account. Patchogue Patch is the right Patch for you (and we hope it is!), click “Join” in the upper right corner. You’ll enter your name, an email address and a password, or you can join with your Facebook account. Then fill out your profile and upload a picture and describe yourself so readers know a little about you.
  3. Create your blog! Click on "Start Blogging" on the front page or on the link in this sentence. Name your blog anything you would like (keep it clean, and don't overthink it, "(Your name)"'s Blog is fine). Then pick a blog icon using your own photo or one of ours. Then click "Create your blog." You may also have other ways of customizing your blog page, so check out the options and make it your own.
  4. Follow the instructions and start typing your blog! Keep in mind that when you submit the post, it will automatically go straight to the front page, so keep it clean, keep your headline to 5-7 words and blog as often as you would like.
It's that easy. If you need to change anything in your blog later, just click over to the entry while logged in and there will be an "Edit" button at the top for you to click and make changes.

We can't wait to hear what you have to say. When you get started, be sure to Tweet/Facebook/Email/Pin/Stumble Upon/Whatever what you write. If you really want readers to see your posts, send them with your friends and family via email or share them on your social media networks. And tell your friends. If you like blogging for Patch, tell someone you know. Maybe they should be blogging for us, too?
