At Bay Elementary Schools community meeting held yesterday Tuesday July 12, 2011, it was a disgrace that the teachers who work in that building were not allowed to attend the meeting. They were directed by the superintendent, Mr. Locantore to leave the premises. Are they not part of the community? Those who were there have direct ties to the Patchogue-Medford community and should be allowed to attend any school or public meeting. Mr. Locantore showed a lack of leadership and concern for those faculty members who wanted to attend such an important meeting that affects everyone who is part of the Bay Community. These teachers took time from their busy schedules and families to be there. I as a community member could not believe how Mr. Locantore is so totally disconnected with his staff.

Mr. Locantore mentioned more than once last night that he plans on holding a meeting with the Bay staff shortly. He also mentioned that according to their contract, they are not required to return to work or other work-related meetings until the beginning of September, so he felt that it would be more beneficial to host the Parents meeting now and allow them the venue to speak freely about any concerns they have in the building; then meet with the staff closer to their contractual start date and discuss all concerns they may have.
