Special Board of Education meeting, Care package assembly event and voting for PMHS in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest.

A special meeting of the Board of Education, a care package assembly event, bilingual career counseling and a poetry open mic night are among what is happening on Monday in the Patchogue and Medford area.

1. Board of Education Special Meeting, South Ocean Middle School, 225 South Ocean Avenue, Patchogue, 7 p.m.
The Board of Education will hold a special meeting in the conference room regarding the state budget cuts and how they will affect the Patchogue-Medford school district.

2. , , 32 Edwards St, Patchogue, 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
The US Veterans Motorcycle club will host a care package assembly event. Participants will sort donated items, pack boxes and prepare them for delivery to deployed military members. Volunteers and donations are welcome.

3. Bilingual Career Counseling, , 54 E Main St., Patchogue, 5:30 p.m.
Career counseling for anyone is available in the Board Room of the library. Appointments are at 5:45 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Call 654-4700 ext. 248 to schedule an appointment.

4. Poetry Night, , 41 E Main St., Patchogue, 7:30 p.m.
An open mic night for the spoken word.
