Reminder: Carnegie Library Moves To New Foundation Wednesday

Building will be placed next to the court house.

The historic Carnegie Library will finally finish moving and be placed onto its new permanent location on the Sixth District Court property on Wednesday.

The move, which was first mentioned by trustee Tom Ferb at the July 8 Patchogue Village Board of Trustees meeting, is scheduled to start at around 3:30 p.m. Patch talked with the moving company, Wolfe Home & Building Movers, Tuesday afternoon who confirmed the date and said the move should begin to take place between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The historic building has been on a temporary location on the court's 150 W. Main Street property since it was moved off its Lake Street location last August to make room for the New Village Patchogue development. The new location is expected to place the building next to Sixth District Court facing Main Street. Patchogue-Medford Library will be moving into the building, and announced its intention to move the Young Adult department inside.
