Residents Get a Glimpse of Grucci Fireworks

Locals had to settle for watching fireworks from across the bay.

Residents closed out their Fourth of July festivities Sunday by coming out to Shorefront Park and Mascot Dock to watch the Grucci fireworks being launched on the Davis Park side of Fire Island.

Though residents would have liked to have seen a show closer to Patchogue.

"I thought it was a good show all things considered," said one resident.

Another resident was having a difficult time taking photographs of the fireworks, but said she enjoyed the show nonetheless.

The 18 minute long presentation consisted of a variety of fireworks ranging from traditional flower shapes to heart-shaped explosions.

Patchogue Patch asked those following its Facebook about the fireworks show and those that responded had positive reviews.

Resident Theresa Skelaney, who before the show had posted concern that Patchogue residents would be unable to see the show unless they paid for a ferry ticket, later posted a different view of the show.

"It was a clear view - I didn't park, just a drive by, but what I saw near the pool was clear as day. I was under the impression that they would not be able to be seen from so far," posted Skelaney.

Resident Sharon Smith Farrell posted that she and her friends took a friend's boat out to the bay to get a closer view of the show.

"The best part is that home is just a 10 minute walk away," posted Frank Montesinos.
