Vacant Malverne Pilates Studio - What Should Open Here?

Tell us what type of business you'd life to see fill this empty property on Church Street.

More than 11 years after Melissa Buonomo opened up her first pilates studio on Church Street in Malverne, the master trainer and owner of Sisters Pilates+ is relocating to a new building.

Relax. The new studio will still be in Malverne, not far from 38 Church St., where Buonomo had been serving clients since 2001. (She also has a studio in Merrick, located at 2096 Merrick Ave., that she opened in 2007 following the success of her Malverne studio.)

And since Buonomo moved out of the Church Street studio earlier this month, the property has already caught the eye of prospective renters, according to J. Schneider Realty Corp.

Steve Schneider told Patch Wednesday that he's already had some interest in the vacant 450 sq. ft. property. It's being listed for $1,050 per month.(Taxes are calculated over base.)

What would you like to see open here? Tell us in the comments section below.

Hey Phil from Lynbrook - Of course I know Mayberry is fake. I still don't want a ninety-nine cent store here or some other place that will crap it up. Atlantic Avenue in Lynbrook managed to revive itself. I'd love to see the same happen in Malverne.

Does anyone here remember Java Joes? A "Specialty" coffee house, which it was hardly. Not it's the kickboxing center I believe. Java Joes was a dump.

The village should build a REC CENTER, on the parcel of land from the farm. Indoor basketball court(s), meeting rooms, etc. This has been talked about on end before. A Youth Center in that small shop is a waste of time & money.

I owned a tea shop for 18 months on Atlantic Ave in Lynbrook and am closing this weekend for good. ZERO interest from local residents..I also made fresh juice and protein shakes, and carried organic muffins, cookies and snacks. Turns out Lynbrook is a Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks and bagel shop town...(all 3 of those businesses are always packed here). Also 450 sq ft is very small..maybe would fit 3 or 4 tables and a small counter, hardly space for refrigeration/ freezers, sinks for washing etc. ..don't you guys have a coffee shop in the center of town..the one with the tables out front? I lived in Malverne as a child..used to walk to The Malverne Bakery with my Dad..(we lived on Broadway few houses down from fire house). Malverne has always been a sweet town. Very distinct and quant.
