VIDEO: Ecuadorean Holiday Tradition Celebrated in Patchogue

A gathering of the Ecuadorean community of Patchogue took place at the Lucero of America foundation at 82 East Main Street in Patchogue after the 48th Annual Main Street Patchogue Holiday Lights Parade.

The foundation had a presence in the parade featuring dancers and the Ecuadorean tradition of presenting baby Jesus and the annual naming of the godmother of baby Jesus. Silvia Matate was given the honor this year.

Additionally, Marco Tapia, mayor of Gualaceo, Ecuador attended the parade and walked with Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri, who also attended the gathering.
