Patchogue Village's Main Street.
Patchogue Village's Main Street.

On Thursday we asked readers on the Patchogue Patch Facebook Page, “What do you want to see happen in Patchogue and Medford in 2014?.”

Here are their several of their wishes, and add yours to the comments below this post:

  • Jessica Johnson Grieco Trader Joes!!!

  • Emma McGrattan It would be great to see the promised park replace the former Nessenger Auto Dealership on Montauk Highway in East Patchogue.

  • Michael Rega Zombie run

  • Kasey Colucci Dog park!

  • Susan Forkel ikea!

  • Jane Drake Easier parking!

  • Peter Sarich a revamped shore front

  • Medfordyouth NY store fronts occupied in medford .our promised community center & let the casino be built

  • Jared Hp A river walk; a path along the patchogue river from the lake right down to the ferry

  • Michele Martin Starbucks/cafe in the old KFC in East Patchogue

  • Tracy Mancuso Walmart

  • Carol Rosebery support for the small businesses on main street/ rte 112 etc....

  • Rob Fleming Make sure Duke's plaque is returned to its original spot once Tritec lays the concrete at the Four Corners.

  • Louie Louie: I would like to see storage containers set up as extra small stores for patchogue residents to start "Micro businesses" in w/o the expense of leasing a building on main street. Ideally, it would be just like Dekalb markets in Brooklyn.

  • Laura Miller Sidewalks on buffalo ave to Jamaica and Southaven at least.

  • Michael Leaning Year round permanent farmers market.

  • Margaret Campanella I'd like to see pat Med Raiders go all the way and win as best team in Suffolk.

  • Rose Marie Broderick Riverfront walks and keep it open for dog walks. Love patchogue storefront! It' a hidden jewel in patchogue.

  • Melissa Mazzarella Whole Foods in the spot that use to be King Kullen...no to Wallmart.

  • Beth Ozarow A panara bread would be nice or I agree with Melissa Mazzarella a Whole Foods would be great!

  • Lynette Freudenberg Murphy I would love a walking trail of some sort.

Would love to see Walmart give up trying to open up in the area. it's not needed and will be more of a problem than anything else.

1. NO walmart. 2. A robbery/murder/rape free year 3. People picking up garbage 4. An increase in property value 5. Fewer vacant storefronts. 5.5 that doesn't mean thrift stores 6. Police presence EVERYWHERE

-5 3/4 or shady massage parlors, shady barber shops, shady used car dealers.

Absolutely no to Walmart. That would kill downtown Patchogue. Use your heads.

Peter Sarich re: your wish for a revamped shorefront. How about a revamped riverfront. Quieter, less loud music, rowdy drunks, and some respect for those residents who live in the river front neighborhoods

How about a moratorium on apartments/condos? There's way too many and the values of the existing ones are plummeting, not good for the rest of us.

I agree with Jo!!! I wish for the village building department and Mayor PP to end their practice of: 1) Selective code enforcement. One for the connected and one for everyone else. 2) Stop patronage appointments of unqualified staff and publicly advertise jobs so all residents can apply. This will put the best in a position to benefit the taxpayers of the Village. No more voted out or quitter trustees, no more relatives of the mayor and their children. 3)Clerk Seal, Post agendas of village meeting on village website in a timely manner so people can view and research the issues prior to them meeting. Not the day of the meeting. 4) Get rid of the Mayor's new 30K SUV purchased with taxpayer funds. He cast the deciding vote to buy it for himself. I recall Mayor Ihne driving an old Chevy that was donated to the Village. He never complained. 5) End the one party rule in this Village.
