Hank Stone's Rule The Roast

Singer and songwriter Hank Stone, who has been hosting the Tuesday evening open mic at Patchogue's popular coffeehouse since last October, has
announced the start of a new series of monthly concerts, “Hank Stone's Rule
The Roast,” at the store. The series, at Roast Coffee and Tea Trading Company, 41 East Main Street, kicks off on Saturday, September 17th, with four local musical artists who have brought their talents to the open mic: Rough Folk, Edwina Tyler, Bryan Gallo, and Jimmy and Trish.

Jimmy and Trish are a young couple who bring a fresh take on classic songs, many of which were written before they were born. The joy they take in performing is infectious.

Bryan Gallo's melodic songs are inspired by late nights in bars, the backseats of cars, and the pressures and consequences of living life romantically. Informed by alternative country-rock and wistful pop music,  his lyrics  weave a lush narrative, deeply personal but still readily accessible.

Percussionist, composer, vocalist, dancer and actress, Edwina Lee Tyler blends these entire elements into more than just a performance, but also into jubilation. Tyler has appeared at Alice Tully Hall, Brooklyn Academy
of Music, Dance Theatre Workshop, La Mama E.T.C., the Michigan Festival, and has toured throughout Europe, Africa and Korea. She taught dance and was director of percussion studies at Dance Theater of Harlem. Her latest CD recording, Things Are Gonna Change, weaves
together her unique style of African, jazz and classical rhythms.

Originator of the series and host for the evening, Hank Stone, has been hailed as one of Long Island’s best songwriters. In 2009 he joined forces
with long-time friends to create the band Rough Folk. Genre-hopping guitarist/vocalist Todd Evans brings on the spice and hot sauce with a style that combines jazz, swing and world music textures. Multi
talented multi-instrumentalist Mike Christian is the groups’ wild card.  Mike gives the group its drive and energy along with a healthy
dose of folk flavored funk. Together, Hank, Todd and Mike have found synergy- the whole is indeed greater than the sum of its parts. So come out to hear them sing songs of love and loss... of despair and hope... of railroads and sailing ships...
