Patchogue Arts Council Honors Richard Smith

In conclusion with his exhibition, artist Richard Smith will conduct a slide presentation of his work at The Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center, our next door neighbor. After the presentation we will reconvene in the sPACe Gallery for a brief ceremony in Richard's honor followed by refreshments. Tickets are $25.00. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Patchogue Arts Council. As a member of the Independent Group, Richard Smith helped forge the Pop Art movement in America. He has maintained an active career with a recent exhibition in London at the Flowers Gallery. His 2012 show at Flowers in NYC was reviewed in Art in America.

Smith’s work is represented in some of the most prestigious museums in the world, including: the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in NY; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago; and the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington DC. His work also appears in the national galleries of Italy, Australia, Germany and Denmark as well as numerous museums in England including the Tate Modern and the British Museum.
