Pat-Med Teen Hopes to Get Cameo on Hawaii Five-O

Local student dreams of meeting her favorite actor thanks to a birthday video effort.

Nandra Best loves actor Scott Caan. She loves him so much that she made a special birthday video last August for the Hawaii 5-O star and now hopes the video launches her into a cameo role on the CBS show.

The 16-year-old Patchogue-Medford High School student wrote original birthday song lyrics to the tune of Carly Rae Jepsen’s popular “Call Me” and was videotaped by her younger sister, 13-year-old Krissy, who attends Oregon Middle School. She posted the video on YouTube where it's gotten over 2,500 hits.

The 11th grader’s video went viral in late December and Caan was interviewed by a Hawaii news show stating he loved the video and went as far as mentioning the possibility of having Best guest star on the show.

“I think we should come get her on the show or something,” Caan states in the interview.

That possibility has the Medford family more than a bit excited.

“I have spoken to some executive CBS offices who have informed me that they are trying to see what they can work out regarding Nandra appearing on Hawaii 5-0 and meeting Scott Caan, but so far there is nothing definite,” Karen Noel-Best, Nandra’s mom, told Patch in an email this week.

“But I really hope that it will happen because I know she would be overjoyed.”

Overjoyed may be a bit of an understatement given Nandra’s response to watching Caan discuss her video card on the news show.

After all getting a chance to be on the show, and meet her top favorite actor, could be the big break most actors and actresses often need to embark on an entertainment path and Nandra hopes to be on that path as well.

In a take on the infamous phrase spawned by the original Hawaii 5-0, here's hoping Nandra hears "Book Her Danno" in the near future.
