The Michael Jazz Trio brought mellow jazz to Shorefront Park Sunday afternoon. Approximately 60 people attended the free outdoor event.
The trio consists of the Godfrey brothers from Central Islip, all of whom hold a middle name of Michael. Matthew, age 16, plays keyboard, 15-year-old David is on bass, alto and tenor sax, and Jordan, the youngest performer at age 9, is the drummer. Their musical roots come from great jazz familiars such as Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane.
