'Motion' Photography on Display at Theatre

Photographer Joanne Dumas' work inspired from environment.

Photographer and Suffolk Community College teacher JoAnne Dumas has her digital photography exhibit "Motion," on display at the through Wednesday.

Dumas' exhibit consists of locally taken photos with inspiration taken from the environment. She uses both natural and artificial objects as the subjects of her photography.

"I go out with an idea but once I'm there [on location], it looks completely different," Dumas said at a reception held recently for her work.

Dumas teachers Digital Photography at Suffolk Community College and received her B.F.A. and M.P.S. from the Pratt Institute in New York City. She said her interest in photography began when she was young first in drawing, then painting, film and now digital photography.
