Music Beat: Christine Sweeney and the Dirty Stayouts

Vocalist of the band does Q&A with Patch, performs at Brick House Brewery Friday.

The blues/pop band Christine Sweeney and the Dirty Stayouts will be playing Brick House Brewery, 67 W. Main St. in Patchogue, this Friday at 9 p.m. Sweeney took some time to talk to Patch about what it's like performing and recording.

Patch:
What are the names of the members of your band and what are their hometowns?

Sweeney: -Band name: Christine Sweeney and the Dirty Stayouts
-Band Members: Christine Sweeney guitar/vocals -West Babylon, Dave Ferro keys/vocals-West Babylon, Sam Kantor-Bayside, Mike Walsh bass-Islip,  Gabriel Stangorlini drums-Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Patch: How would you describe your sound?

Sweeney: Our sound is a good mixture of blues and pop with some indie flavor mixed in. I've been compared vocally to songstresses like Sara Barielles and Ingrid Michaelson.

Patch: What are your performances usually like?

Sweeney: Our shows in a nutshell: Fun bluesy tunes, silly banter on the mic, my band making at least two jokes at my expense and I laugh about it. Lots of smiles, because I'm happiest on a microphone.

Patch: What is your next big thing coming up?

Sweeney: Aug. 9th at the Brickhouse Brewery in Patchogue at 9pm and recording our first full band project

Patch: What has your experience been like working on the current EP?

Sweeney: The current EP was a live recording with just myself, and Dave on keys, from the famous NYC venue, The Bitter End. It was great because we decided last minute, there was no pressure. It was actually the first time Dave and I did a show together, and that was the beginning of our band. It was exciting to have a release, but with the thrill of a live show. We had the live tracks mastered, and the rest is history.
