Revelers Ring in 2012 at Patchogue Theatre

Over 500 people attend late-night 'Holiday Hop' performance.

People from all over Long Island gathered at the Saturday evening to a special performance of 'Holiday Hop'.

The late night show consisted of performances by musical groups, the Cornell Gunther Coasters, the Marvelettes, and the Platters. Intermission is timed around the midnight ball-drop at Times Square. Guests mingled, ate hors' d'oeuvre provided by Jim's Deli and enjoyed a champagne toast at midnight.

Producer and Managing Director Paul Allan of the Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County at Gateway Playhouse has watched the New Year's Eve performance grow since its start in Bellport in 1997.

"It's a great night to do a show. People want to do something and people like coming to the theater so it's a good match; give them a show and add the New Year's Eve twist to it," said Allan.

First-time attendees Shelley Kaminsky from Syosset and Linda Russ of Dix Hills loved the performance.

"We looked all over for something wonderful to do. We heard about the [Cornell Gunther] Coasters, the Marvelettes and the Platters and we were so excited! So my friend, that I've known since kindergarten, and I decided to come with our husbands," Kaminsky said.

"It was a bit of a ride getting out here but it was definitely worth it. We'll be back here next year," added Russ.
