Show: Piña Colada Guy Hits Patchogue

Bass player behind Rupert Holmes chart-topper plays Brick House Brewery.

A bass player who once played with Rupert Holmes, best known for the 1979 hit song "Escape," played at the Brick House Brewery last night with his funk band.

Chauncey Nedd, the bass player, and the Neddman Band have a funk instrumental sound that layers guitar, synthesizer keyboards, and drums to create a jam band sound that, like many bands of this nature, are at their best when spontaneously trading off solos.

The band played a few original songs that showed off this style, and then went for covers of "Knock on Wood," "Gettin Jiggy With It," "Let's Get It On," and "Long Train' Runnin."  An hour into the set the band returned to its funk roots with an instrumental song that gave the keyboardists, lead and bass guitarists the opportunity to solo.

The band has been together for 35 years. Their largest concert was a sold out show at the Hoftstra University Playhouse where tickets went for the not bargain price of $60.00.  The band is based on Hempstead and can be found at their MySpace
