A Fun Thing to do for Easter

My family always gathers at my house for a delicious dinner on Easter Sunday. My wife adopted an Easter egg hunt, on Easter, to break up the monotony of the day. Plastic Easter Eggs are filled up with spare change, Jelly Beans, wrapped candy, and Letter Tags. The Jelly beans are only for decoration, and are later discarded.

The “Letter Tags” are small slips of paper with letters written on them; “A” through “Z” and AA through “ZZ;” a prize, is associated with each “letter tag.” My wife went down to the local dollar store and purchased small articles such as a screwdriver, a pot holder, an IPOD charger cord, a hardware assortment, and a package of picture frame hangers. Each prize is labeled with letters that correspond to the “letter tags,” that were placed inside of the plastic Easter eggs. This year my wife went to the super market and also purchased a few dozen boxes of cookies that were also used for prizes.

Before dinner someone would hide the plastic Easter eggs. The rules of the game! Everyone is only allowed to keep 10 plastic Easter eggs. If a person does find more than 10 eggs he is to give the extra eggs to someone that has not found his quota.

OK! The Easter egg hunt is over, and everyone opens the plastic eggs inside of the house. The children sit on the floor, and “just love” to count and stack the mountains of nickels, dimes, and quarters. The “letter tags,” are then exchanged for their associated prizes. The adults will then “horse trade” their trinkets, in order to bring home something that they can actually use! Lots of laughs! LOL. Everyone then proceeds to the dinner table with a smile on their face!

This family “fun thing” can easily be adapted to your special family event!
