Bogus Cruise on the Carnival Cruise line

Today February 22, 2014, Carnival Cruise Line sent an Email that contained last minute information to people that are scheduled to depart on the Carnival Sunshine cruise ship, tomorrow. The problem… They also sent this Email to people that did not book a cruise with Carnival. Hundreds and possibly thousands of people that did not book a cruise on Carnival, received “Last minute departure instructions.

Needless to say many people, including myself, got very upset at the possibility of their identity or their personal information being stolen.

People that received the bogus Email were asking questions such as “Has our information been compromised,” and “Very shocked to hear I'm booked on a cruise tomorrow! I've had debit card hacked before and this better not be what's getting ready to happen!”

Carnival Cruise line later published the following retraction; “We’re so sorry. The email did go out in error and we have just sent a retraction email. Rest assured, your personal information has not been compromised in any way.” I do hope that this is true!

Another recipient of the initial Email posted this; “Sadly I got my retraction letter....Oh sigh...No cruising for me tomorrow it appears!....

Yet another recipient wrote; “Oh @carnivalcruiselines that was such a tease sending that email saying my cruise was leaving tomorrow!! Do you KNOW how much snow is on the ground here in New Hampshire?!?!?!? :0)”

I have this “gut feeling that people may show up tomorrow to collect their free trip on the Carnival Cruise line. Poetic justice! LOL
