Dear Fellow Resident,

Five more park benches in recognition of contributions of individuals and groups to the Village of Patchogue will soon be placed on Main Street. A bench recognizing Eloise Staudinger is in front of the Colony Shop, and one recognizing Jeffrey Weeks is in front of Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company.

The five additional benches that will be installed

In memory of Connie Fuccillo

In memory of Clare Rose

In memory of William and Patricia O’Neill

In recognition of the Patchogue Lioness Lions Club

In recognition of our own Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.

The idea for the memorial benches came from members of the Greater Patchogue Foundation Beautification Committee.  The benches were purchased by the Greater Patchogue Foundation, the non-profit arm of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, with funds contributed by individuals and businesses and installed by the Patchogue Village DPW.  The Beautification Committee hopes to see our Main Street lined with beautiful benches memorializing our leading citizens, commemorating important landmarks in the Patchogue story, and honoring our service clubs and other organizations.

The Beautification Committee plans to add additional benches using the private-public model, private funding via tax deductible contributions, and installation on village property by Village DPW staff. An individual bench including a small plaque with an inscription costs $1,900 (subject to unforeseen increases).  The Beautification Committee will reserve the right to review the appropriateness of the dedication or commemoration, and the Village of Patchogue will have the final say on location.  The inscription could be similar to:

Thanks to the members of the Patchogue Volunteer Fire Department on behalf of a grateful community.

Serving Since 1880.

Paula Murphy and Karen Ferb, volunteer representatives of the Beautification Committee, will coordinate the effort. They will take responsibility for collecting the funds, reviewing the proposed inscription, ordering and delivering the bench to the DPW, coordinating payment, and overseeing installation and dedication.

If you wish to make a contribution, please make a check out to The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce Foundation with a notation “Patchogue Volunteer Fire Departtment”.

Please deliver your check to Tom Ferb (917) 225-7411, the Chamber of Commerce or send your checks to:
