Police: Medford Man Shot Neighbor's Dog With BB Gun

Martin Frey, 54, is charged with animal cruelty.

A Medford man was arrested Sunday night after police say he shot his neighbor's dog with a BB gun.

Sixth Precinct officers responded to 82 Lincoln Road after a 911 caller reported that her dog had been shot around 7 p.m.

When officers Ettore Naclerio and Michael Cafarella arrived, they noticed that the dog, a German Shepherd, had a BB gun pellet lodged in his nose and was bleeding, police said. The dog’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Martin Frey, 54, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.  He was also charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon after he was found to be in possession of a gravity knife.

Frey will be held at the Sixth Precinct overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
