BoltBus To Operate Now As '7Bus'

Upstart commuter bus company BoltBus has recently decided to break away from the BoltBus franchise and restart the company as 7Bus, according to reports.

In an article that references sourcing from Long Island Business News, LongIsland.com reported that the company, which launched back in December, will still run regular commuter bus trips to New York City from Ronkonkoma, Melville and Riverhead.

The company's signature orange BoltBus will now change to a green branding logo to accompany the "7Bus" moniker. The name 7Bus represents the average dollar amount commuters will pay to travel into Manhattan.

“We had a really good relationship with [BoltBus],” President Michael Schoolman told the LIBN. “We just wanted to offer more than their systems allowed, like commuter passes, intra-island travel and tourism packages. So we came out with our own brand.”

In an interview with Sachem Patch back in April, Schoolman had indicated that the company wished to provide intra-island travel, among other initiatives. Now operating as 7Bus, the company will be doing just that, according to the report, as well as offering bulk commuter passes for regular customers.

Ronkonkoma and Melville passengers can purchase a 40 pack of tickets from $280, while a Riverhead-originating passenger can get the same 40 pack for $480. As with the BoltBus, the 7Bus comes with luxury seats, a coffee holder and free Wi-Fi access for passengers.

The transition from BoltBus to 7Bus will be completed by the end of this month, according to the report.
