Business Beat: Sketchbook Studio Opens in Patchogue

Meet Meghan Healy, owner of Sketchbook Studio.

is a new art gallery and community art instruction business located at 427 W Main St. in Patchogue that recently held its grand opening on Feb. 12. Patch talked with owner, Meghan Healy, about the business and what she hopes it will bring to Patchogue.

Patch: Describe what Sketchbook Studio does?

Healy: Sketchbook Studio's goal is to offer the community quality art instruction and gallery space for all ages and abilities. Sketchbook Studio welcomes all children and adults with special needs and challenges. Arts are for all and everyone can benefit from an art experience. The studio is a place to relax, create and express your talents. 

Patch: Where are you from?

Healy: I grew up in Bayport-Blue Point and have returned home to the south shore of Long Island after spending the last 12 years attending Brooklyn College attaining my MFA and working as a teaching artist in a NYC school. 

Patch: What do you hope to accomplish with your business?

Healy: My dream was to have my own art studio; to continue my personal work, sharing my passion for the arts with all ages and abilities believing that arts are for all.  

Patch: How can artists in the community get involved in your gallery?

Healy: The gallery portion of the studio is available to all artists wishing to display or set up a photo shoot of their work and to organizations planning a fundraiser.  

Patch: What do you want to bring to Patchogue?

Healy: I welcomes all artists in the community to visit the studio and I hope to be an active member of the Patchogue Art community.

Sketchbook Studio is open Mon. to Sat. at the times classes are offered or by appointment. Sketchbook Studio is also open for children's parties and fund raising events.
