Hoptron Brewtique Launches Blog

Patchogue company posts inaugural blog after hosting Brewers Collective contest.

The Hoptron Brewtique in Patchogue Village has added one more platform to its social media strategy: a blog it launched this afternoon.

The blog, which is hosted Hoptron's website, was the brainchild of part-owner Sue Lara, who told Patch the new platform was an idea put together last year for a 2014 execution. Lara said it will be maintained and updated in-house on a trial and error basis.

"Since we opened we wanted to have something like this," she said. "We wanted to try to see how it works.”

The inaugural post was a rundown of a recent event the West Main Street brewtique hosted on behalf of the Brewers Collective, a group of home-brewing enthusiasts. The Brewers Collective held its Annual Winter Homebrew Contest, whereby do-it-yourself beer makers go head to head to find out who brewed the tastiest home-beer. The winner was Matt Bentivegna for his "Mocktoberfest" beer.

Lara said future postings on the newly minted blog will include information about the Hoptron Brewtique's brewing classes it holds, as well as recipes for home-brewers, special events, and lessons on how to clone local favorite beers from cooperating brewing companies.

Hoptron Brewtique is located at 22 West Main Street in the village and has 16 different micro-brews on tap. In addition to the new blog, Hoptron Brewtique also has a Facebook and Twitter account to assist with its public outreach and branding.
