While Sunday's blizzard left the Patchogue-Medford area buried, local grocery stores and delis remained open for shoppers who chose to brave the roads.

Stop & Shop, at 700-60 Patchogue-Yaphank Rd. in Medford, was open Monday for business, but Peapod grocery deliveries were cancelled for the day, as well as any incoming deliveries, said Melody Dillon, a customer service representative for Stop & Shop.

"We couldn't get them in, because they couldn't plow the dock," she said.

The , at 453 Medford Ave. in Patchogue, was also open Monday, but manager Pam Mancuso said that they did open later and closed earlier than normal. Mancuso said that they use a plow service, so they had no problems with customers being able to access their shop.

Not open for business Monday was the , 51 North Ocean Ave. in Patchogue, which is normally closed on Mondays said manager Lorenzo Galeotafiore. However he said that with the weather they couldn't have opened if they wanted to.

"The store was completely surrounded in a four-foot drift of snow," Galeotafiore said. He also said that the parking lot for his store was also filled with snow.

A message was left for those that called, which said they were closed on Monday because of the storm, but would be reopening at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Galeotafiore said there were power outages in some of the neighboring businesses, but that they did not lose power. He said that his business is now running as normal.
