Meet Bowl Long Island Manager Roberta Vollaro

The lifelong Patchogue resident has a long list of accomplishments.

Roberta Vollaro has been the Junior Program Director at Bowl Long Island long before the bowling alley saw its latest renovations. Having held the position for the last 25 years, Vollaro is truly one of a kind.

A lifelong Patchogue resident, she graduated Patchogue High School in 1968 and says she only left Patchogue once. "I went away to college for a year and a half, and then I came back. I live in Patchogue, I've always lived in Patchogue. I met my husband on a bowling league at Patchogue lanes," she said.

Vollaro is currently responsible for approximately 250 junior bowlers between the various leagues, school programs, and tournaments of which she is a part. She runs, coordinates and oversees all of the junior programs at Bowl Long Island at Patchogue, is a certified bowling instructor, a certified program advisor through the USBC (United States Bowling Congress), and has been on the USBC Youth Committee for the past 25 years. She has also been inducted in the Long Island Junior Bowling Hall of Fame.

With respect to the recent renovations which Bowl Long Island has seen, Vollaro says, "It's made a big difference in the community. People from the outside tell me they're no longer afraid to come inside. Everyone keeps telling me how good it's been for the community."

While Vollaro certainly has many accomplishments to her name, she humbly says, "I just like what I do. My goal with the juniors is to promote bowling, sportsmanship, fair play and team work. I want them to have a safe place to go, where they feel secure."
