Patchogue Patch reviews pizzeria in its new location

Del Fiore Pizza Company may have left their North Ocean Avenue location behind, but they made sure to bring over their specialty gourmet pizzas and staff to their new Main Street location next to the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The new location, nearly double in size, offers a very welcoming and oddly familiar feel. "It's like you've come here for years, even though it's technically brand new," said one Patchogue resident.

Angelo Galeotafiore, owner of Del Fiore's, described his variety of pizzas as "creations" with "ingredients that will stand out." As he explained, "Customers can see our touch and our way of doing things. People recognize us as one of the best."

The pizzeria's menu consists of Fazzani's or "folded pizzas", Panini sandwiches, baked dishes, salads, wraps, garlic knots, and pizza by the slice or full pie. The Del Fiore counter is never empty, as it is lined with the various creations which are available daily.

The slice varieties seem endless, including familiar toppings like pepperoni and more obscure toppings like fried calamari. Some menu options include the standard Margherita consisting of fresh mozzarella and basil on a thin crust, to the "health conscious" Lorenzo, an all veggie, no cheese, healthy option, described by the menu as "sexy."

The classic Margherita has a thin incorporation of tangy sauce and freshly melted cheese. The slice was well prepared, and thin enough so as to have room for seconds.

The Portabello pizza was piled high with huge strips of the namesake ingredient along with peppers, fresh mozzarella, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette. Prepared on a thick crust, the slice was a meal in and of itself. Though there seemed to be a large number of ingredients, they were integrated in such a way that made sense for taste.

While one may think the "sexy" Lorenzo slice would not be fulling due to its lack of cheese, it more than makes up for that in its gigantic slice size. The fresh vegetables engulfed the Sicilian-style crust, resulting in a tasteful "healthy" option.

Del Fiore Pizza Company is located at 75 East Main Street in Patchogue, and orders can be called in at (631) 475-2500.
