ShopRite May Join Raymour & Flanigan at Former Home Depot Site

Supermarket chain listed on Town of Brookhaven Board of Zoning Appeals Agenda.

A ShopRite grocery store may be the previously unconfirmed supermarket chain to be moving in next to the Raymour & Flanigan furniture store that is under construction on the site of the former Home Depot on Sunrise Highway in Patchogue.

The Town of Brookhaven Board of Zoning Appeals Agenda for its November 17 meeting lists three requests for signage at a proposed Raymour & Flanigan/ShopRite building at 95 Sunrise Highway on the northeast corner of the North Service Road and Route 112.

However, a representative from consumer affairs at ShopRite said that there are no immediate plans to open a store in Patchogue. When asked about the agenda item, they said that while it is possible for a store to come to the area in the future, it is not on the current list of planned stores.

As , the site has been under construction since April of this year, and is expected to be complete before Thanksgiving. While the furniture store is expected to be open by that time, no timeline or confirmation of ShopRite has been issued by the Town at this time.

The ShopRite would be adjacent to a grocery store on Route 112.

An additional clue pointing to a Patchogue branch of the supermarket chain is a job posting found on Craigslist from Oct. 4 looking for management positions for upcoming Patchogue and Hauppauge locations of the store. An email sent to the craigslist listing was not returned as of press time.

Brookhaven Town officials could not be reached for comment at press time.
