Verizon Union Workers End Strike

About 45,000 employees will return to work, though a deal has yet to be struck.

Verizon Communications and union leaders on Saturday said that striking employees in the area will return to work on Tuesday, though there's no deal on a new contract.

The Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers said they've agreed to stop the two-week strike because the provider of phone, cable and Internet services started to bargain in good faith.

Union employees will work under the terms of the contract that expired on Aug. 6, the day before Verizon workers walked out. There's no deadline to reach a new deal, Verizon added in a statement.

Since then, there have been protests

Verizon also said it planned to "quickly address any backlog in repairs and unfulfilled requests for service."

I suppot the union 100%. Although I've never been lucky enough to be in a union myself, I realize that the determination and sacrifice made by all union workers throughout history is what built the middle class in this country.

Do not forget that the AFL-CIO is now heavily influenced by the Communist Party USA, the CPUSA. Last fall the head of the AFL-CIO, who is also the head Democrat, in the State of Connecticut, was given an award by the CPUSA, and he not only went and accepted the award, he also said "I stand with them". Then about 2 months ago, during a march in California, the AFL-CIO and the SEIU marched alongside banners that said CPUSA now, socialism now etc. I do not know about others, but I do know that communism and socialism do not work. All the do is make everybody equally poor. And one more thing, Stalin, Hitler and Mao, to name a few, all started by embracing the working man and unions. In the end they destroyed the unions and the working man. Read history.

I support Verizon management 100%. As a Verizon customer I am opposed to ANY rate increases. If the union forces Verizon to increase rates, then Verizon will lose customers. Sound familiar? Remember what the UAW did too the once great American auto makers.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/08/20/verizon-workers-going-back-to-work-without-deal/ Verizon has a multilingual department?! With multilingual consultants (see the photo caption)?! Close it down and fire everyone in that department. English is the language of America. All this multilingual nonsense balkanizes our nation and culture. If you do not want to learn English that is your problem. Nobody is forcing you to live in this country. Reply

You union lovers make me sick and you know why? You know that unions and Karl Marx have a lot in common, right? What happened to Marx? Unions have destroyed this country. Good companies have always takes care of their work force. Thay know that a happy worker is a good worker. We never needed unions and do not this day as well. Trust in the company to do the right thing and they will. Compaies like Enron are few and far between. Most are like Disney who love and care for their work force. Look what unions did to the auto industry. Now Japan cars made here are non-union and are the best cars in the world. No unions in Italy or Germany too and their cars are pretty darn good too. Unions=death to America. How come the biggest producer of goods in the world-China, has no unions? Don't need them that's why.
