Vina De Villa Caterers Closing

Customer left scrambling after sudden closure of Medford catering hall, report said.

Medford’s Vina De Villa Caterers at 2005 Route 112 is closing, and according to a report has suddenly left employees without a job and at least one client scrambling for a new venue.

According to News 12 employees reportedly received text messages alerting them of their termination, and a woman is attempting to get her deposit back for a wedding she booked at the hall.

Jennie Hionas of Rocky Point, said in the report that she was planning on using the venue for her wedding in January and that she never received a phone call about the closing. She said she has disputed the charges on her credit card, of which at least $1,600 has already been put down in a second deposit.

When News 12 dropped by the catering hall, they were kicked out but were informed that the catering hall was liquidating its assets. They were also told by employees that the owners of the hall were out of the country.

The report said the catering hall is owned by the same people who previously owned Manor East in Massapequa, which closed in June. According to Massapequa Patch, customers left in a lurch from Manor East’s closing have received some assistance from Assemb. Joseph Saladino and the Long Island Caterers Association.
