Weekend Guide To Patchogue For June 11-13

Concerts, exercise, flowers, and free food are all a part of this weekend's fun in Patchogue.

Friday, June 11:

Rocking Out:

Where:  30 Grove Street, Patchogue

The New "Wave" Club Opening Concert:  This slightly off Main Street music venue is having a show in its new location on 30 Grove Street at 7 PM.  Seven local bands of rock, pop-punk, and indie stylings will be playing the stage, including Wings For IcarusTime and PlaceThey Sent Us HereThe Given MotionCity In The SkyAll The More, and Memories In Play.  Tickets cost $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

Chilling Out to Tunes:

Where:  Once & For All Cafe, 8 E Main Street, Patchogue

Three For All:  Three piece band made up of 2 guitar players, 1 fiddlest song, performing earthy stylings of acoustic rock, Irish music, and cover songs by bands like Van Morrison and U2.  The performance should start at around 9 PM and there is no cover charge.

Jazz Rock:

Where:  Brick House Brewery, 67 W Main Street, Patchogue

The Sun Gets Down:  This jazzy rock trio will be playing at the now 14 year old Brick House Brewery starting at 10 PM.  This Long Island group has a "jam band" sound, and they will have Mike Landry, producer of their forthcoming album "Ties to the Grid", join them on stage on guitar.  The cover charge at the Brick House Brewery is $5 and starts at 9:00 PM.

Saturday, June 12:

For the runner:

Where:  Shorefront Park at Smith Street, Patchogue

Hope For Hands Walk/5k For Charity:  This walk/run event organized by the 6th Grade Red Team at Oregon Middle School starts at 9 AM.  All proceeds go to a charity selected by the winning Essay writers.  The cost is $15 for students and $25 for the public. 

Zen out:

Where:  Father Tortora Park at Central Avenue and East 3rd Street, Patchogue

Tai Chi In The Park:  First of two free informal gatherings sponsored by the Water Tiger School of T'ai Chi Ch'uan at 9 AM to 11 AM.  For more information, call Laurince at 631-475-5730 or email Laoshi@WaterTigerTaiChi.com.

Free Breakfast And Social:

Where:  Community Garden, corner of Terry Street and South Ocean Avenue, Patchogue

Breakfast in the Park:  The Patchogue Garden Club will provide coffee, tea, bagels and fixins at 9 AM. Bring a dish to share and a chair to be guaranteed a seat.

Feeling the Blues:

Where:  Bobbique, 70 W Main Street, Patchogue

Lonesome Dan & The Curmudgeons:  This Americana blues band will be playing the barbecue joint at 9 PM.  The six member band describes themselves on their myspace as making "music for baby boomers caught up in surviving the meat-grinder of middle-class life. "

Reggae and Soul:

Where:  Brick House Brewery, 67 W Main Street

The Electrix:  This band, who recently played at John Cino's Log Jam, will bring their reggae and soulful style to the Brickhouse at 10 PM.  Cover is $5.
