Walmart twists statistics just like they want the town to twist zoning laws!

Walmart proposes to build a 98,000 sq/ft building on the corner of Hospital Rd & Sunrise Hwy. There are multiple issues with this site. Mainly, it is not zoned for this kind of business and it will endanger the community!

Just a few of the many problems: emergency access to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital will be compromised, huge increase of traffic on a small bridge, storm water run off to shallow aquifers- where our drinking water is from, BIG BOX in residential area, twisting the law for a zoning variance to build parking spaces, Local businesses will

be heavily impacted. Walmart's advertising is a GROSS manipulation of statistics stating E. Patchogue residents welcome this project. Seniors, children, renters, business owners, commuters, homeowners , tax payers & wildlife BEWARE!

Brookhaven Town Hall meeting Monday May 19th at 4:00pm will determine if this dangerous project goes forward.

Come out Monday night and protect our community! CONTACT US FOR MORE INFO:  EPWalmartfree@aol.com

Sorry Jordan maybe you're right about the bridge but I did talk to people from the planning bd and they said they are discussing Walmart replacing the bridge, however the bridge has been on the town watch for the past couple yrs and they also were planning on replacing the bridge with or without walmart. Walmart sharing the bridge cost will still save us money. as for shopping in Walmart most people I know shop there at least once a week. We cannot afford to shop at the mom and pop stores. Perhaps if we didnt have unions in this country we could afford to buy american made products more often. But right now we can't afford it. and Patchogue/ Medford/ Bellport has alot of senior citizens and working poor that NEED that Walmart. And we need it now

The Mom & Pop stores need our business and they do not charge much more than local big box stores. With our support they can continue to give us value for our money and products made locally not in China ! Let's bring back the personal side of shopping and support our local merchants.

Do you remember that just a few years ago, the bridge was expanded & sidewalks were added for pedestrian safety? How much did that cost? Now they want to remove a sidewalk & expand the bridge to accommodate large trucks! Are they kidding?! Excuse me, but we are not in Kansas or in Queens! This is not progress. This is destruction of our home, our neighborhood, downtown Patchogue & Bellport's livelihood and quality of life for All! Above all, this project would contaminate yet another community future generations.

By the way, the owners & employees of the remaining mom & pop stores are local residents...our neighbors! This is what America was built on! If Walmart wants to bring a quaint Wallworth's into town, that just might fit in. I do believe that this was the American dream for for the family whose business exploded into the current mega store.
