Peconic Herb Farm Heaven

Heaven for this gardening mother.

With Mother's Day upon us I arose early this morning, gathered family and declared a road trip was upon us.  From our Medford homestead, it took us about twenty minutes to arrive in...heaven.  Yes, you read that correctly....I went to heaven today.  As an avid gardener, I am always on the look out for additions to my garden and the Peconic Herb Farm did not disappoint.  I have frequented every nursery in our area and many points beyond and PHF offered many varieties of shrubs, vegetables, perennials, trees and herbs unavailable anywhere around town. While many of us are familiar with herbs like basil, oregano and sage, they offer a myriad of different herbs, both annual and perennial.  Offerings included but are not limited to several varieties of lavender, comfrey, feverfew, lovage, and a whole half a hoop house devoted to every variety of basil under the sun. They also offer many varieties of native shrubs including hard to find elderberry, many species of viburnum, spirea, buddelia, azalea and hydrangea.  They have large specimen shrubs that include large price tags but have many of the same shrubs in smaller gallon sizes for $12.95 and a great assortment of tiny evergreens and small azaleas for $5.00. Also available are fig trees and other soft fruits, annuals, houseplants, pots of every shape and size and a two-story gift shop that showcases antiques and wares from local artists. The park-like and kid friendly grounds invite you to wander through established beds for gardening inspiration and picnic tables beg for a packed lunch to be spread upon them.  The garden helpers were friendly and knowledgeable and I especially liked the bargain pots filled with three different varieties of herbs for $10.95.   I will absolutely be going back and invite you all to join me.
