Last December, for my husband's 60th birthday celebration, we spent a few days in the Big Apple. I had never been to the Central Park Zoo before, and the visit, on that cold, December afternoon, was one to remember.
My favorite animal was Gus, the popular polar bear, who had become an icon, since his arrival at the Central Park Zoo back in 1988. More than 20 million people have had the pleasure of visiting Gus, and I was sad to learn today, that he was euthanized on Tuesday, because he had a large, inoperable tumor on his thyroid.
I am wondering how many others of you will miss Gus as well?
