If Only She'd Listen 'Mom'ory

My oldest daughter, a tween going on 30, is finding it hard lately to see eye-to-eye with me, the wicked witch of the west. If only she'd listen...

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Wash your hands. I don't want you to get sick. I hate to see you suffer.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Please be nice. You don't like when people are mean to you.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Go play outside. You sleep more soundly with fresh air in your lungs.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Let me help you. I know that it can be a struggle sometimes.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Use your manners. You can then show others how to use them too.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Respect your elders. You'll miss them when they're gone.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Don't talk that way. You may live to regret those words.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Clean your room. It helps to clear your mind.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'Calm down. I know you're angry. I would be angry too.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'I understand. I once felt the same way.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'You're beautiful...just the way you are.'

If only she'd listen, she'd hear me say,

'I love you. I always will.'

Your barking dog complaint in North Patchogue is handled by Public Safety, Town of Broohaven. CallRead More them at 451-6161 and they will take action. The first time the owners will be warned, the next time they will receive a summons.

Don't know what the Town ordnance is, but if you live within the Village of Patchogue, I believeRead More there is a "15 minute rule" in the code. Basically, if the dog is barking for more than 15 continuous minutes, it's a violation subject to a fine. Call public safety at 475-1225. Keep in mind it's probably not their first priority (unless the dog has a bad attitude, and is carrying a weapon), but they will be responsive, eventually.
