Will You Still Love Me After The Election?

The Wizard of Oz Meets Poet Robert Frost in Patchogue the Day After the Election.

I love elections. I went to a couple of debates this season and discovered that candidates promise so many things that audience members are so eager to hear that everyone seems as if they are skipping through a field of poppies just like the foursome did in The Wizard of Oz. And it will, indeed, take a Wizard of Oz to procure the money and other resources necessary to address our pressing problems that loom like the Wiched Witch of the Recession, just waiting to dash our dreams of peace, justice, and solvency against the rocks.

Political honeymoons seem to get shorter and shorter until they often don't occur at all. Darn! What we are left with the day after an election is a few winners who get to smile, shake hands with the public, and are immediately handed a mop to clean up what has been spilled and spoiled in the past.

I am reminded of my favorite poet when I was a kid ~ Robert Frost. He read a poem at Kennedy's Inauguration. My favorite line of his (at least at this moment) is that we have miles to go before we sleep... miles to go before we sleep.

Your barking dog complaint in North Patchogue is handled by Public Safety, Town of Broohaven. CallRead More them at 451-6161 and they will take action. The first time the owners will be warned, the next time they will receive a summons.

Don't know what the Town ordnance is, but if you live within the Village of Patchogue, I believeRead More there is a "15 minute rule" in the code. Basically, if the dog is barking for more than 15 continuous minutes, it's a violation subject to a fine. Call public safety at 475-1225. Keep in mind it's probably not their first priority (unless the dog has a bad attitude, and is carrying a weapon), but they will be responsive, eventually.
