Pat-Med Power Outage Update

Area is faring better than others when it comes to remaining homes without power.

The Pat-Med area is in better shape than others when it comes to power outages still lingering from Hurricane Sandy and additional damage from Wednesday's nor'easter, according to LIPA statistics.

As of 11 a.m., there were 718 outages reported in Medford, 412 in East Patchogue, 341 in North Patchogue and 269 in Patchogue. Those figures are on the decline.

Other areas havn't been so lucky. Since 2 p.m Wednesday, LIPA is now reporting almost 100,000 new power outages on the island. For anyone who did lose power during Wednesday's storm, LIPA says you may have to wait a bit to get it back.

"When possible, we will restore power to customers who have been without power for the longest time," LIPA said on its website, adding that the current weather "may impede our restoration efforts."

As of 11:19 a.m., there were 265,047 LIPA customers without power island-wide.
