Pesticide Spraying Tuesday in Davis Park

Vector spraying will take place from 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.

Pesticide spraying is scheduled in Davis Park on Fire Island Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. announced the Suffolk County Department of Public Works (SCDPW).

The spraying is intended to control the growth of vectors, which are similar to mosquitoes said a representative from SCDPW.

The department recommends staying indoors up to 30 minutes after the spraying has completed. Doors, windows and air conditioning vents should be shut during the spraying as well. If one gets into contact with the pesticide, protect the eyes. Immediately wash affected areas with water, and wash affected clothing in a separate laundry load.

The department also recommends picking homegrown fruits and vegetables, as well as any items that may be outside.
