Photos: As Floodwaters Recede, Damage Comes Into Focus

These photos taken Wednesday afternoon show the brutal punch of Hurricane Sandy on Patchogue.

Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri has said the Village was spared Hurricane Sandy's worst compared to neighboring areas, but that's not to say it didn't take quite a punch.

The photos above were taken Wednesday afternoon along the shoreline in the Village.

Sadly Mascot was never really finished being fixed after Irene damage. This is where my daughter caught her first fish.

Why is Patch the only news outlet that cares about Patchogue's damage? Why haven't any government or other officials come to inspect our damage? I live at the end of Bay Ave, and our homes are devastated. With 18" of filthy water in my house, it will be months before I can live in it again. My neighbors to the south are in worse shape than I am, living in trailers, having to totally gut their homes. I have lost everything. Where is News 12? The mayor? Our assembly people, or town board members? Does anyone care that a once beautiful neighborhood looks like a muddy war zone?
