"As outages are being addressed, and housing resources increasingly become available, the previously urgent need for multiple emergency shelters across the county is diminishing," a county release states.

More than 150 people were housed in the St. Joseph's gymnasium Tuesday night, according to Vanessa B. Streeter, a spokeswoman for County Executive Steve Bellone.

With a Nor'easter baring down on the area Wednesday, power outages may rack up once again.
