Week In Review: June 13-19

The Walmart war, political protests, fatal car accidents and musical performances.

Big news this week included the rescinding of the land where an East Patchogue Walmart was proposed, the addition of $3.75 million toward the building of "New Village" apartments and a hotel in place of the shuttered Sweezy's department store, and a series of car accidents on Friday in which a man from Islandia was killed in a collision.

On the culture side of things were shows at the Brick House Brewery and the first summer concert at the new location of The Wave. Also, columnist Jessie Biele wrote about her experiences with the free weekend beer tastings at the Blue Point Brewery .

Next week is graduation week for seniors at Patchogue-Medford High School, who will celebrate commencement on June 25th at 6:00 p.m.
