Up to two to three inches of snow is expected to accumulate in Central Long Island according to a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service.
The advisory states that central Long Island is expected to receive snow into the evening, possibly up to two to three inches. The snow may briefly mix with rain in between heavier snow bands early this afternoon said the advisory.
It is expected to fall as moderate to heavy snow in the afternoon that should taper to flurries in the evening.
Visibility may be one half mile or less in moderate to heavy snow and will otherwise be around one mile says the advisory.
