We are never going to lessen gun violence in this country through legislation. It is a political non-starter. I think there is a way,however, for the marketplace to make it's own corrections. We need the introduction of a "Smart Gun". Just like the smart phone, it will revolutionize the industry because of it's popularity among consumers. It will be gun reform, not gun control.
Guns today are basically 19th century mechanical devices. They are way behind the times. They've been souped up a bit but they are still no smarter than a wrench or a hammer! My coffee maker is more sophisticated.
Smart Guns will enable entrepeneurs to write and sell apps that consumers will gobble up. Only our imaginations will limit what they will be capable of. Many of the apps that gun owners choose to download to their guns, or their networks of guns, will actually make them and us safer.
I have plenty of ideas about what those apps might be, but I would rather hear suggestions from others before I try to influence their thoughts. So how about it, any ideas?
