Chris Hale of Patchogue @ the Boat Festival Weekend - August 3 & 4

On August 3 and 4, 2013, from 11 am to 4 pm, Long Island Traditions will host another public
program in connection with the exhibit “From Shore to Shore” at the Port Jefferson Village Center.  Traditional boat displays will line the
outdoor area of the Port Jefferson Village Center located at 101 E. Broadway, Port Jefferson.  Alongside them, boat
owners will be there to talk and answer questions about their boats.

Chris Hale of Weeks Yacht Yard in
Patchogue will bring handmade wooden half models of boats he has made
and of typical boats found on the south shore. Steve
Jones from the Long Island Maritime Museum in Sayville will be bringing
a traditional skiff.  Ken Budny of Bellport will
have his restored Beetle Cat on display. In addition volunteers
from the Bayles Boat Shop in Port Jefferson will be demonstrating their
work on wooden boats.

All the boats featured are based on
traditional designs common on Long Island that continue to serve as
recreational or commercial fishing boats.

This event and the exhibit are FREE and all families are welcome.  The exhibit is still going on inside the Village Center until September 2nd.
